Tokyo Game Show (better late than never)

Short, it was insane! Good insane, not bad insane!

Tokyo Game Show takes place in Makuhari Messe in Makuhari, and we stayed at a hotel with shuttle transport to the location, which was extremely nice. During the busiest days there was a constant flow of traffic from the train station to the event and from the exit doors back to the station. A two kilometer constant ten meter wide stream of people. Did I mention it was insane? Coming from a country that hosts a mere 9.5 million it was mind boggling being in a city where 37 million people lives, the constant flow of people, the sound of pachinko halls, all the music and sound effects from every store numbs the mind but it is still a fantastic experience.

There were tons of people playing Little Warlock during the four day exhibition and we handed out over 200 beta accounts. I also visited some card game shops in both Akihabara and Shinjuku and gave them some Beta cards to hand out as well so I perhaps we get even more testers from the east.

I met several people who could potentially help launch Little Warlock in Asia, both with localization and marketing, I also made contacts with people inside several companies in Japan, so the journey was indeed worthwhile and I will follow up on those contacts in the weeks to come.

A surprise was that there were a lot of Swedish people coming by our booth, and they seemed equally surprised to meet a fellow Swede. Among the locals I seemed to be quite an attraction, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m somewhat viral in Japan by now judging from all the people taking my picture. I guess they thought I was cosplaying a Norse Viking or something like that: D

All in all, it was a fantastic experience that gave new inspiration and new contacts from the east, and I hope to return some day.

    Little Warlock goes to Japan!

Jerry will be showcasing Little Warlock at Tokyo Game Show between 19-22 September, we will be standing in the Swedish Pavilion together with Uppsala University.

We would love if anyone who might be there came to play our game and had a chat :D
